. I spent 18 months in Titirangi Auckland painting  in a studio.
My art studio in Mairehau is a great space to work in and I have a comprehensive collection of my  paintings.

SUNSHINE ROAD .The dreams and fears of a shy diffident girl brought up by an unhappy, explosively  angry  though creative mother and an ever patient,  retiring father  is told from the angle of several characters . A childhood spent in make believe , reading and drawing for an escape , do not prepare her for the pain  later on , from disappointment,  falling in love, and  experiencing  a   tragedy that changes  her life. The  loss experienced, the  divorce of her parents and , reflections on these events compel her to become an artist as the only way to make sense of the world. Set against the sometimes  tumultuous  1970s and 1980s, it  has  passages of prose poetry that follow a timeline of  particular times and places  and an  inward journey to a place of understanding based on some experiences of her own life. 
Catherine works on both paintings and film projects.
